This is a great book, and a very simple one at that. This story is timeless because you can connect a lot of events and things to it, such as high school. In a common high school you have the popular girls (Hero & Beatrice), the jocks (Don Pedro, Don John, Claudio), the clowns (Benedick), the nerds (Beatrice), and of course the regular crowd who can fit in with anyone… This story reminds of a regular high school because the drama is so innocent and child-like except it is on a grander scale. The way Benedick and Beatrice feel about each other is kept secret because in reality it seems like they hate on another when actually they are longing to be together but they both think that the other person does not like them. The whole situation with Don Pedro being a middle man in this play is quite funny because he not only assists Claudio and Hero in their marriage but Beatrice and Benedick in theirs. We have all probably pushed a friend or had a friend push you to go out with someone either in high school middle school or even elementary school. All of us know how the middle man thing works and that is why this story can be related to so many things, because this situation has happened in so many forms and seen in so many ways through multiple types of media. I have a feeling that Don John the Bastard is not going to get far in this little love tale…
Do you guys think it is strange that Hero can cause so much drama and she hardly says anything in this entire play so far?
I also just want to add that Messina is a town in Italy and the gaol is the jail.
I blogged this before but for some reason I can’t find it on the hompage? Sorry if there is two…

LAST BLOG!
This does not really have anything to do with my position as connector, but I would like to point something out. Does it not seem that by the end of the story Carton is portrayed to be more of a central character than any of the other main characters? Throughout the story we could only really get into Lucie’s, Lorry’s, the Doctor’s and a few others thoughts. But now at the end of the story, we got inside Carton’s head and were able to see what he was thinking.
Anyway, now to be the connector. In a very distant way, because we all know that this story’s events were no way near as significant… the sacrafice that Carton made for Lucie, Darnay, Dr. Manette and Lorry could somewhat be related to the sacrafice that Jesus Christ had made on the cross for everyone in the world. Throughout Jesus’ time spent human on earth, he taught people of God and guided them in the correct direction to eventually get to heaven. Even though Carton may have not seemed like a huge main character, he was still there to help and enfluence people. And lastly, when Jesus had died and sacraficed himself for us on the cross, this is similar to Carton disguising himself and then sacrificing himself to save Lucie, Darnay, the doctor and Lorry. Do you agree with me? (Or laugh at me, haha) Can any of you think of another way that the two are similar?
Hope you guys enjoyed this book as much as I did………………………………

Madame Defarge is always knitting when she is around people, she is knitting names into a register and these people will be executed. What Madame Defarge is doing reminds me a bit of voodoo dolls, maybe because you sew them and just the fact that she is knitting the names is strange. What do you guys think about her knitting the names of people who are to be executed?
Also, after Lucie and Charles are married we see Dr. Manette return to his old habit of making shoes again because he thinks he is losing Lucie. When people get depressed so drink, smoke, do bad things to themselves or others, what Dr. Manette does really reminded me of a drinking problem because he can stop for a bit but as soon as something goes wrong he returns to his old ways. Then when Lorry sees him in this state he chops of the shoemaker’s bench and hides the tools in the garden so Manette can’t make shoes anymore. This to me is kind of like rehab in a way because he cut Dr. Manette from his shoe making supplies like alcoholics are at a rehab center.
