Much Ado About Nothing: Connector: Maddie Zinn
Ok, in Act 3 a lot is happening. Two of the most important things that happen are: Beatrice and Benedict getting together, and Don Jon ruining Claudio and Hero’s love by telling Claudio that Hero’s a whore.
The fact that Beatrice and Benedict are trying to date the other out of pity reminds me again of Drive Me Crazy. In the movie two neighbors go through bad break-ups and decide that they will pretend to go out with the other out of pity, [and to try to make their ex’s jealous. In the movie the two end up truly falling in love, which I predict will be the case in Much Ado About Nothing. I think that Beatrice and Benedict will truly fall in love with one another, but may have a difficult time showing it.
Do you think that Beatrice and Benedict will truly fall in love or do you think that they are really just doing it out of pity for the other?

Well, I think that they do truly love each other, but they are afraid to show it now. Or they don’t realize that they love each other and they are just doing this for whatever reason. This also reminds me of a movie that I saw called my fake husband…I at least think that is what the movie was called. Anyway in this movie, these two people pretend to get married because they are each trying to get a benefit from being married. Like, they want the presents and the money. They end up leading everyone on to believe that they are in love and want to get married but really they don’t. In the end they end up falling in love and getting married for real. I thought that in a round about way this movie relates to this section.

I agree Brittany, I think it was My Fake Fiance, maybe?? But this play reminds me very much of the movie content. I think that Beatrice and Benedick will truly fall in love, like I said in Brittany’s post, I think their fighting was acually thier flirting because they are both so independent that they both have a hard time showing how they really feel.

Yeah, I agree with both of you. I think that they are truly in love with each other, and maybe even have been for a while. They both are too self conscious and stubborn though to admit it. I do think that they will have trouble showing it again because of their characteristics and personalities. Another movie this could possibly relate to is one called Two Weeks Notice, because the two main characters do not get along but in the end, they end up falling in love, a classic ending to a lot of movies!
