Taming of the Shrew- Post 2- Abbey Stefanides
Well in this scene we have some sparked relationship between Bianca and Lucentio, and a horrible wedding scene. This section reminds me of… I am a really bad connector, I don’t know what to connect this to. I GOT IT! Kiss me Kate! I knew that it reminded me of something, and i got it, this reminds me of Kiss me Kate. I think that it is based off of this too, isn’t it? Any way, Kate was being a bratt, and the main guy falls in love with her, even though she is supposed to get married to the army guy, but she falls in love with the main guy (matt beres)! But the difference is that in Taming of the Shrew the guy doesn’t have gangsters that come and control Kate. Maybe that is what Petruchio is going to do!
Do you think that this is a pretty good connection? What is it that Petruchio had to do that was so important that they didn’t even get to have their wedding feast?! Jeez Louise. Finally, do you think that Petruchio is going to get gansters to help him tame Kate?

This is a very…original connection. ‘Kiss Me Kate’ is based on ‘Taming of the Shrew’ so it’s only natural that the two are connected. So, I approve.
I think the important event is probably part of the plan Petruchio is hatching to tame Kate. I bet you its going to be something Petruchio plays up as being really important that turns into something stupid.
I don’t think Petruchio is going to get gangsters (like the mafia) to help control Kate…but that doesn’t mean he won’t enlist some help. He might just get people who are employed to him to play along or, who knows, maybe get some 16th century gangsters to help control Kate.

Well, Kiss Me Kate IS definitely based off of The Taming of the Shrew; it is the play within Kiss Me Kate. So yes Abbey, this was about the best connection to made.
For your first question pertaining to the play, I think that Petruchio was late for the wedding simply to show his dominance over Kate and to annoy her to no ends. As for the “gangsters”…i don’t think that they had those back then Abbey. If you are asking if we think Petruchio will need help in taming Kate, then perhaps he will get someone to help him, but i do not see how they would help since they are already married and there is nothing she can do.

I didn’t realize it until after I wrote the post that Kiss Me Kate was based off of if. haha. Sorry.
I don’t think that they would nessecarily be “gansters” but there would be people that he would have like sidekicks to help him to control Kate. Like in the play. (:
