The Time Machine Pd. 1 connector Taran Copenhaver

So far we have the narrator going to the time traveler’s house every Thursday talking about time travel. This Thursday the time traveler actually time travelled. What I thought of when I read about his future world was the story A Wrinkle in Time. The time traveler is talking about how perfect everything is and how it is so peaceful in the future. The same happens in A Wrinkle in Time. They go off and discover this wonderful world were everything is perfect.

In the Time Machine the time traveler starts talking about how things might have fallen apart and how things probably are not perfect here. Things were not perfect in the world in A Wrinkle in Time. It was all a trick and The brain tried to kill the main characters.

So my question is, is the world really peaceful and happy in the future or is it really a trick and will the “people” try to kill the time traveler? If so do you think the time traveler step up and be a hero and “fix” the future or will he coast along and just observe this world. Be creative

Wow, there are a ton of directions I could take with this response…

I believe that the future is going to be peaceful and happy for the time traveler. What I believe may happen though is that something might go wrong with time machine, causing him to be stuck either in the wrong time period or in between time. When I mean in between time I mean that he will be stuck in a sort of Limbo. I am totally making this up as I go along, but you said to be creative! I think that this will be the main problem in the story that the main character has to overcome. Though I could see your scenario taking place also.

Ok, I will say that I do agree with Erin up to a point. I think that the time traveller’s future will be quite bleak. The reason why is because men of great intelligence normally try to delve into realms that they cannot attempt to explain and we already see that the time traveller already has tried to unravel time. So since we see that the time traveller has already tried to unravel one of the greatest phenomenon of our world he will most likely stop at nothing to solve whatever new ideas come into his mind. This is why I believe that the time traveller will have a horrible future. Another reason why I think that the time traveller’s future will be bleak is because the time traveller is the kind of person who will not be satisfied until he has unravelled every mystery of our world, so he will most likely eventually delve into something halfway and hurt (or kill) himself. I agree with Erin that something will happen to the time traveller while he is time travelling. The reason why I think this is because it has been overdone. In almost all stories about time travel something goes wrong. But Taran I also think that you’re idea could be right (sorry, I’d say more because I read the whole “A Wrinkle in Time” series ,but I forgot all about it).

The world in the future is not going to be totally peaceful and happy. Why would the Time Traveller have come back with his beaten up appearance if everything was peaceful? The Time Traveller has mentioned a few times so far about the partially destroyed structures that are there. The windows are broken, the floor is well worn, and the table has chips in it. This gives the impression that some kind of war broke out. I would guess that the people will either try to make the Time Traveller the same as them and he will resist, or there is another, larger, group of people who try to kill the people the Time Traveller just met. The Time Traveller could also become bored with the people he is with currently and travel to a different time. That could be the time period where he receives his wounds.

Taran-Go into more depth with your connection. Be more explicit and try to include your group in the mix. You need to make it much more clear.

Also, questions were a little on the weak side…you can do better!
