Adam Lough, Anil’s Ghost- Discussion Director

Anil had a had a very different kind of life growing up. She was treated very strictly and had a regimented lifestyle. Even as an adult she seems cold and unmotivated.

So why is it that when she realized that the one body she found was murdered was she so intent on bringing the killer to justice?

Also, why is Anil so suspicious of Sarath?

He seems like he only wants to help her and hasn’t given her a reason to not trust him.

P.S. I wrote this blog after I came home from a long day of work and after a school sport and before i had to participate in the very time consuming and preplanned activities of my Friday night. Therefore i propose that the blogging dates should go until Saturday morning, there is hardly anything planned on then and they were much easier to do.  Thank you for your consideration.

I was wondering exactly the same thing. Throughout the book, the author describes the violence in Sri Lanka in great detail. Anil seems to accept it, along with everyone else in the country. But then, the find a few bodies, and she suddenly wants to catch the killers? It doesn’t really make sense. Why does she want to bring the killers of those people to justice? Maybe she simply had enough and wanted to try and make a difference, no matter how irrational her thinking was. She is so suspicious about Sarath because she understands that she cannot trust anyone. She knows that her could be in the government, waiting for a chance to kill her. Anil got as far as she did in her life by relying on her own instincts. If she would have outright trusted everyone she met, she would probably be dead.

I agree with both of you…it is very strange for her to want to find the murderer and turn them in, but, maybe she wants to turn them in now because she has seen first hand just how brutal the murders are.
Anil doesn’t trust Sarath because she is safer if she doesn’t trust anyone. Sarath may have some part in the murders or maybe he truly wants to help but either way Anil can’t take the risk. By the way, didn’t Sarath lie to her before?

Okay, Adam did Mallory blog yet because I seriously cannot find her blog anywhere!!! Do you know how I could find it so that I can comment it before it’s too late??

I think Anil wants to get justice because she knows she can do something about this. She can get the government in trouble if they are killing people and hiding them in caves. I hope she does do something about it too, because that’s really messed up.

I also think that Anil should be suspicious of Sarath because he is a wearid charater. He was cosen by the government to work with her, he has a relative in the government, and he lied to her about his wife. Not everyhting adds up about him and I wouldn’t trust him if I was her.

    Mallory :)
