Wuthering Heights Pd. 1 – Connector – LAST POST!! – Heather Kinney

Last Post!!

Ok, so I have two connections. They’re basically both about Catherine’s death, but in different ways.

The first is when she dies during childbirth. I connected it to the special on Discovery Health Channel called Birth Day. Even though I’ve never seen an episode where the mother dies, most of the births are high-risk and extremely dangerous, both for the mom and the baby.

The second is about the movie Jack Frost. When Heathcliff cursed Catherine for leaving him, he also told her to come back, even if it means putting himself in total agony, just to be with him. In the movie, Jack comes back to have a second chance. The thing that really doesn’t fit is the fact that he’s a snowman. But oh well.

There you go! Any opinions?

I do see what you are saying, Heather. I have, unfortunately, heard of many cases when the mother passes away while giving birth. I think that there is less of a chance in this day and age though because there is more technology and are precautions taken while delivering a child.

In a way, Heathcliff COULD be compared to the the snowman aspect because he is such a cold person. By the middle of his life, he is very greedy and self centered and doesn’t truly care about anyone except himself. He has a cold heart and a snowman is very COLD!

Sorry that I put to “the’s” in the second paragraph!

I like your connection about Heathcliff! I didn’t think about that.

Do we really know that Catherine passed away because of the childbirth going bad, and not just because in the horrible state she was in, she couldn’t handle childbirth?

I like your second connection to Jack Frost. Also, Megan, can we really blame Heathcliff for how he turned out? I mean its not like he had a good childhood.

Either way, she still passed during childbirth. Being horribly sick probably had a part in it, too. But giving birth still would have had killed her, because it went bad anyway.

    Thats a good connection.
I agree with Derrick in that it didn’t help that she was just through a lot of emotional stress and from what I hear, child-birth is one of the most painfull experiences that a woman can go through.

I unfortunatly have not seen this movie. Possibly once you get through the hard exterior Mr. Heathcliff is so bad. Its sorta like melting the snow from the snowman.
I would like to add that summer is coming!!! YAY
