Return of the Native-DD, Adam Lough, Pd. 3

When Mrs. Yeobright went to go visit her son a terrible mistake was made. Eusatcia saw her coming towards the house and Mrs. Yeobright saw Clym entering the house. Thinking that Eustacia would tell Clym she was coming, Mrs. Yeobright decided to wait for him to come help her. But when no one ever came she thought that Clym was still upset and didn’t want to have anything to do with his mother. Mrs. Yeobright eventually collapses from exhaustion. Clym then finds her and sees that she has been bitten by a viper. They towns folk try to help her but she ends up dying. Then Johnny Nonsuch comes and tells them her last words, the she thought she was “a broken- hearted woman cast-off by her son”.

My question to you is, how do you think Clym will feel when he finds out that Eustacia didnt tell him his mother was coming? Also, how might Eustacia feel knowing that she indirectly killed Mrs. Yeobright? What do you think will happen to the couple?

I think that Clym will be very mad at Eustacia if he finds out. I say IF he finds out because he might not even find out at all. Eustacia might not confess to not letting her in the house, and the only other person that knew that she didn’t answer the door was Damon. He won’t tell the truth because, let’s face it, he lies about pretty much everything. He also wouldn’t do that to Eustacia because he still loves her. So, I don’t think Clym will even find out about how Eustacia indirectly killed his mom because she won’t even tell him.

Eustacia will feel bad when she finds out that she sort of killed Clym’s mom. Being ashamed of it may be a reason why she way not tell her husband. I think anybody would be sad if they found out they accidentally indirectly killed someone. After all, if Eustacia would have let Mrs. Yeobright in their house, she wouldn’t have died.

The first time I commented this, there was no box for my name to go in. This is really getting me frustrated, because everytime I comment, I have to go back and edit it and put my name in!

Btw, while everyone is in school (WHEN IT SHOULD BE A SNOW DAY), I am sitting at home with my fireplace on watching spongebob. Oh, life is gooooood.

I think that Clym will be furious. To comment the comment above, the question asked asked was “how do you think Clym will feel when he finds out that Eustacia didnt tell him his mother was coming.” The finding out done by Clym is nonegotiable. We are forced to answert the question with the assumption that Clym will find out. Anyway… Clym has had a strained relationship with Eustaica, and the unintentional death of his mother will most likely send him over the edge.

To whoever commented above: Clym is a clever guy, he used to sell diamonds in Paris. I think that he would eventually figure out what happened.

I think that the stressed caused will tear the couple apart.

I think that Clym will be extremely angry at Eustacia because Eustacia knew that Mrs. Yeobright didn’t like her so Clym might think that Eustacia let her die. On the other hand, Eustacia is probably feeling very guilty for what she did and is sad that Mrs. Yeobright has died. This is definately going to have a negative affect on their relationship because of Mrs. Yeobright disapproving of the relationship from the start.

I would have to disagree with the last comment(which idk if that’s mallory or Laurissa??). I don’t think that Clym will ever find out about what really happened to his mother. He will probably assume that her last words were about how they were having a fight. And Eustacia will never tell him because she never really liked Mrs. Yeobright.
