The Bean Trees,Illuminator Brittany Miller, Post 2, Period 1
The passage I chose is on page 97. Taylor is talking to Lou Ann.
They were talking about Taylor and her little baby Turtle. Lou Ann kept asking Taylor questions about the baby and Taylor just had to tell her that she was just given to her. Lou Ann thought that that Taylor adopted her but Taylor told her that that’s not really what had happend.
My question is do you think that Taylor has any real motives of adopting Turtle or is she just going to keep taking care of her? Do you think that when Turtle gets older Taylor will tell her the truth about what had happend the night she was given to her?

I think that it is possible that Taylor might adopt Turtle becasue lately many poeple have been asking about her, but she can’t give straight answers. For example she can’t tell about Turtle’s past, or that she isn’t the real gardian of the child. It would be easier for Taylor to legaly adopt her and be able to give straight answers, at least about being the legal gardian.
I think that once Turtle is older she will tell her about what happened, that is if she still has Turtle. I don’t think she would keep this from her for a few reasons. One is that they look nothing alike because Turtle is an indian. Another reason is that with what happended that night Turtle would deserve to know that no one knows exactly where she came from, but that she belongs with Taylor now.
