I think Nelly's feelings changed a little bit about Catherine, but even in the beginning Nelly thought Catherine was spiteful for some of the things she did.

I think at first Catherine was probably resistant to the change, but I think she came to except it quickly. She doesn't like hanging out with Heathcliff after the change and i think this shows that she enjoys her new position in the neighborhood and wants to keep it.

You can tell that Heathcliff definitely feels unequal to Catherine after the change. I do believe that he avoids her and I think at one point he doesn't want to touch her because he will make her dirty.

I agree with Megan in that Nelly's feelings have changed about Catherine. But i think that Nelly's not in a place to judge becuase no one is perfect. I think that Catherine needs time and will eventually change back to her self.

Yes, i think that Catherine does accept her change. I think that this shows how she acts to Mr. Heathcliff. I dont think a person would jepordize a friendship if she didnt accept who she really was

I think that Mr. Heathcliff feels lesser than Catherine. WHen she initally comes back she treats him like dirt and he doenst act as proper as her.

Nelly describes Catherine positively in the beginning. It seems as if she really likes her. Upon returning to Wuthering Heights, Catherine's personality changes. She has turned into a "young lady". She is, according to Nelly, very rude and unconcerned with other people's feelings. She does not feel it necessary to converse much with Heathcliff either. Nelly judges her throughout her whole story and they are rarely good judgments.

I think that Catherine in a way is forced to accept the change, for she comes home to a brother and sister-in-law who have always wanted her to act more lady like. Also, in order to have Edgar Linton become fond of her, she had to change. She may have also decided to keep her changes to drive away Heathcliff, for she said herself he didn't know much of anything. If she would have had a choice, I do not think she would have wanted to change for she loved her life just the way it was. Because the Lintons didn't like her mannerisms, they took into their hands to change her. So, I do not blame her change entirely on herself.

Heathcliff can see that Catherine is not who she used to be on the outside. I believe that he thinks them to be equal on the inside for he can see that she hasn't really changed. If anything, he may think he is higher than her, for he did not let anyone influence him to change. This could be a sign of a high self confidence or a sign of pure stubbornness. He does not like Catherine acting in this way, but he accepts her and even tries to talk to her in private. She refuses to do so after his negative encounter with Edgar Linton.
