Blog 2 Brett Pallas Connector

This may seem corny but the connection I made was in the movie cinderella.  Catherine reminds me of Cinderella who was once dirty and did all the chores. Blue collar almost. Mr. Linton would be the fairygod mother who changes Cinderella into a “princess” just like he changed Catherine into more of a lady. And Mr. Heathcliff would be the step-sisters becuase the step-sisters are jealous of how Cinderlla got more attention. I think this connects with Mr. Heathcliff becuase when he finnally meets her once agian she treats him lower and he is jealous of this. Do you guys agree with me?? Can you find any other connections in Cinderella to Wuthering Heights???

I see what you mean, Brett. The only difference is that when Cinderella became beautiful, she didn’t become mean like Catherine has become. There is another connection I see and that is the formality of each situation. Both stories have women with big dresses and men with coats and other formal wear. Another connection is the personalities of the step sisters I think can be related to Catherine’s personality; changes drastically with the situation. They can all be happy and polite when the situation is in their favor. I also think that the fairy god mother is more like Nelly Dean because she is the more sensible and makes the “magic” happen with cleaning Mr. Heathcliff up. That is a GREAT connection! I never would have thought of that!

Brett, I think that is a great connection. Megan, i disagree with the first thing you said. Catherine was mean before she got changed by the Lintons. I remember reading about all the spiteful things she did to Mr.Earnshaw. So she was already mean, just not so mean to Heathcliff.
