“I pulled its wrist on to the broken pane, and rubbed it to and fro till the blood ran down and soaked the bedsheets”

This is an interesting quote because many superstitiousl lead us to believe that we can pass through ghosts. If this is in fact true how does a ghost bleed if it is in fact dead?? Also i would like to ask why do you guys think that this room is not allowed to all vistors?

First of all, is the ghost really bleeding or is it just an illusion that the author includes to enhance the detailing of the story? Also, where is this quote in the book? I would just like to know for future blogging. Thanks.

I think that the room is not allowed to visitors because its contents and perhaps create a sense of haunting. I also think that because it is said that it is not allowed to visitors, this makes it seem to be creepier than it actually is. The placement plays a role because there is a tree that is right outside the window and the branches’ noise create yet another “haunting” feature of the room.

Does it really matter what common legend says ghosts do or don’t? I mean, no one really even knows whether ghosts exist. Also, I got the feeling that either the people in the house already knew the room was haunted, and that strange things happened in there, or that the room had some kind of past that made it off-limits.

I think the room is off limits to most visitors mainly to avoid conflict. If a guest finds the diary and the names, they might stir up problems with Heathcliff. It could also trigger the hauntings, like what Lockwood went through.
