Mr. Shank -
I think you need to figure out who is Kortney and who is Heather, cause I have no part in this posting.

Heather-Show how that connection aids in our understanding of the book. Also, allow your question to guide the discussion a bit better.

To Sarah and Brittany: Your responses should go into more depth. Explore the question more explicitly.

I totally see the connection between the movie "Where the Heart Is" and "The Bean Trees". That was a good connection. I also think that Taylor is doing the best that she possibly can for the little girl even if that means asking others for help. I also agree with sarah that it is acceptable for Taylor to ask for help because when you need help you should ask for it. So, yes, I do agree with Taylor's methods of providing for the little girl even if that is just asking for other people's help. It is better to ask for help and live than be stubborn and not ask and die.

I think that it is acceptable for Taylor to get help from others because when you need help, you should always ask others for it. Also, she should keep the child and work toward the goal of being stable enough to take care of the girl on her own because it would be bad to try and take of the a child with no money. Which, you would starve from not eating or getting any other things you need.
